There's always plenty to do at Kingston Lacy. This January and February, discover the magic of snowdrops and look forward to the coming year by planting a seed at half term.

Discover winter's flower

The iconic snowdrop is one of the earliest bulbs to flower in the UK. At Kingston Lacy there are thousands of snowdrops to see, with more than 40 varieties planted; you can take a stroll around the garden every day through January and February as the different varieties come into bloom.

Snowdrop walks

If you'd like to know more, book a one-hour, guided snowdrop walk. These volunteer-led walks will take place before we open so you'll be able to see the snowdrops without the crowds, and you'll be joined by one of the garden team to help you unlock even more secrets of these delicate flowers.

It's always difficult to know when the snowdrops will be at their peak, so to ensure you see the snowdrops at their best, dates and tickets for this event will go on sale in 2026. Check Upcoming events to find out more and to book. Tickets £10 (normal admission applies).

Snowdrop stencil workshop

Get creative on 7 February with a three-hour stencil workshop run by local artist Melanie Ward. It's perfect for beginners, and by the end of the session you'll have learned brush techniques, and how to blend paints and layer designs or patterns. We'll be using Melanie's pre-prepared stencils inspired by Kingston Lacy's snowdrops, but you'll come away with an understanding of the art of stencilling that can be used in all kinds of creative ways, as well as a collection of your own cards and gift tags.

All materials are included. Tickets £55 (normal admission applies).

First Light snowdrop photography

Capture the beauty of winter at Kingston Lacy with our First Light photography sessions on 31 January and 1 February. Book an early morning slot (from 8am) to photograph not just the snowdrops but all of Kingston Lacy's winter gardens – you'll have access to wander freely before normal opening times.

Tickets cost £10 (normal admission applies).

Please note: these sessions are ideal for amateur photographers. Whilst we welcome all photographers at Kingston Lacy, commercial photography requires a licence which can be arranged through our images office. Please contact: images@nationaltrust.org.uk for details.

February half term (14-22 February)

Green fingers at the ready! This half term we'll be busy in the tipi (at the start of the Woodland Walk – ask at reception for directions if you're not sure) planting seeds and getting crafty.

You'll be able to decorate an eco pot and choose a seed to plant and take home. What will you watch grow this year? There'll be seasonal craft activities as well.

This is a free activity for everyone, but please consider leaving a small donation if you enjoy yourselves.
