Discovering WWII at Studland Walk - The Anti-invasion Defences 1939-42
Join us for a guided walk as we tell the story of Studland during the early years of WWII
- Booking essential
After the evacuation of Dunkirk in July 1940, it was thought that Studland Bay, with its shallow seas and sandy beaches, was a prime location for a German invasion.
Join us as we look at maps and photographs from the War Department detailing the location of the anti-invasion defences installed during 1940. We explore the heath visiting the ruins of an anti-tank ditch, a pill box and other structures so evocative of Studland's part in the defence of Britain during those early years of the war.
