Owl Pellet Exploration
Become a wildlife detective (and get messy) this Halloween to discover what the owls have been up to in Woodchester Park.

Join us for a hands-on exploration of owl pellets and uncover the secrets of Woodchester Park's nocturnal hunters. Owls swallow their prey whole, but they can't digest everything. By carefully examining owl pellets, you can discover tiny bones, fur and other clues that help tell the story of what an owl has been eating.
Either watch a pellet dissection demonstration, or get involved with your own set of tools and barn owl pellet to see what you'll find.
This family-friendly activity is a great opportunity for children to get up close to nature, learn about food chains and habitats, and develop their detective skills as they investigate real owl pellets.
We will be on hand to help identify bones and explain how owls hunt, what they eat and why they play such an important role in the ecosystem.
There's no need to book, just drop by anytime between 11am and 3pm to have a go (while pellets last).
This drop-in activity offers a unique chance to learn more about the wildlife that comes alive after dark at Woodchester Park.

Tinkley Gate Carpark has accessible parking spaces where blue badge holders park for free and a drop-off zone in front of the cafe front door. The cafe has a power assisted front door and an accessible toilet. This event is great for children and families, though everyone is welcome.
- What to bring and wear
The barn area is covered but open on one side so please wear clothing suitable for the weather. All tools and pellets will be provided.
