Harvest Celebration

Hinton Ampner is a beautiful place to be as the seasons transition from summer into autumn. Join us for vibrant displays of produce from 20 September and pumpkins from 11 October.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

See the changing landscape as nature begins to prepare itself for the winter months, offering perfect opportunities for autumnal photos and long fresh air walks. The trees weave patterns of yellows, browns and reds, casting an autumnal glow all around the grounds. One of the best views at Hinton Ampner is the show stopping autumn colours of the wider estate, best enjoyed from the benches flanking the terrace.

Head to the Walled Garden to witness slow, seasonal colour transitions from a vibrant green, to soft ochre as leaves fall away to reveal nature’s bounty; ripe apples and figs and pears hang ready for harvesting. Spot the rainbow of chard, see onions drying and grow your gardening knowledge helped by our garden guided tours before making your way along the gravel pathway to bask in the beauty of stylish flowerbeds packed full of dahlias, in shades loved by Ralph Dutton. Visiting with young children? Take the Autumn colour wheel challenge and discover the scents of a productive, Autumn garden. Little ones can spot pumpkin cut outs dotted amongst the plump produce!

From October 11 take in our plentiful pumpkin displays around the grounds. Spot the archway of gourds, wonder at the pumpkins growing plump in the Walled Garden and take advantage of seasonal photo opportunities with pumpkin displays being created from over 500 fresh pumpkins - spot them all around the grounds.
