Heritage Open Day

Home to an epic series of large scale murals by the acclaimed artist Sir Stanley Spencer, this twentieth century chapel, tucked away in a quiet corner of the Hampshire countryside was created to honour the 'forgotten dead' of the First World War.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event

Alongside Spencer's artwork in the Chapel, there are lots of additional activities to enjoy. Join an expert guide for a short in-depth look at a specific Spencer painting, followed by a unique and moving experience as poetry by First World War poets is read aloud in the Chapel. A small exhibition explores the creation of this remarkable building, with architectural drawings and photographs.

Join one of our art volunteers and design an ID dog to take home as a souvenir. Afterwards explore the murals and discover where Spencer included these tags in his artwork.

We also have our pop up tea-room where for a donation you can have a warm drink and a biscuit.
