Celebrating Beatrix Potter at Knole

Indulge in the charm and nostalgia of Beatrix Potter: discover hidden characters in the showrooms and see a selection of original manuscripts, book illustrations and toys

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Indulge in the charm and nostalgia of Beatrix Potter. As part of year-long celebrations, discover hidden characters in the showrooms and see a selection of original manuscripts, book illustrations and toys from Hill Top, Beatrix Potter’s famous cottage in the Lake District. Highlights include a rare Peter Rabbit Steiff toy from the early 1900s.

Get up close to Beatrix Potter’s creative genius and view a showcase of her watercolour artworks and handwritten manuscripts. Find out how she became a commercial success and see merchandising from the early 1900s, including a Peter Rabbit doll manufactured by the famous Steiff toy company. This is a rare chance to see original Beatrix Potter material on loan from her former Lake District cottage, Hill Top, which is now cared for by the National Trust.

As you discover Beatrix Potter’s illustrated creatures tucked away in Knole’s grand showrooms why not stop for a selfie or play with themed toy boxes along the way?
