The Old Castle has its origins in the 14th century and forms the centrepiece of Scotney's Picturesque landscape.
On this 45-minute tour you'll see areas not normally open to the public. You'll learn a little of the castle's long and colourful history, hear what's involved in looking after it, how it has starred in films, and about the recent archaeological dig and our plans for re-planting the ruins.

Tours cost £7 per person, plus standard admission.
All ticket holders should also book their car parking in advance to avoid disappointment.

Please gather at the Old Castle 5 minutes before the tour start time and allow at least 15 min to walk from the car park to the Old Castle.
- What to bring and wear
It can be chilly in the Old Castle so please dress warmly and wear flat-soled shoes.
- Accessibility
Regrettably this tour is not accessible as, due to the castle's age and build, there are uneven floors, changes of floor and ceiling height, steps and staircases. Steep hill with hard-surface path down to the old castle. There are no WC/changing facilities in the garden or old castle.
- Other
Tickets gives access to the Old Castle at the time of the tour only. Normal admission charges also apply (paid at the entrance on the day/free for members). Only 12 people per tour so advance booking is strongly recommended. Parking is not included and should be booked in advance. Only assistance dogs are permitted in the old castle.
