Daughters of the Soil

Discover documentary photographer Joanne Coates's powerful exhibition about women in agriculture in Holeslack barn.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Daughters of the Soil is a powerful and timely exploration of the role of women in agriculture by documentary photographer Joanne Coates. Spanning five years of research and creative work, the exhibition brings together new images from the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria alongside earlier work from Northumberland and the Scottish Borders.

Together, these portraits and landscapes create a deeply human narrative about identity, place, and the unseen labour that sustains rural life. This exhibition focuses on the women working the land in South Lakeland. The work highlights change and regeneration.
