Summer of Play at Gibside

Follow the Summer of Play trail, a self-led festival of fun that stretches across Gibside. Whether your child dreams of becoming a sports champion or an artist, they’ll head home happy-tired, full of excitement and fresh air.

From Georgian games to racket sports, music making to nature creating, it's a summer packed with discovery. Tiny explorers will love the sensory play scattered across the Walled Garden, where every step brings something new to see, touch, and experience. And grown-ups? You’re invited too - step into the puppet theatre and put on a show or discover moths on the Wildlife Wander.

There will be special events to bring even more magic to your visit (details coming soon):

- Hit the target in soft archery or at family axe throwing with BOutdoors

- Step back in time with the Time Bandits

- Dance to live music

- Get nostalgic with parachute play

- Be bowled over in a cricket session with Durham Cricket Club

- Feel zen with a spot of family yoga

Set off on an adventure at your own pace from Saturday 5 July, every day, all summer long. Don’t forget to pick up a Play Passport and get it stamped every time you visit a National Trust property.
