Family challenge: Gibside Summer of Play

Get ready for family fun (and rivalry) with classic school games.

Drop by and join the family challenge. Take part in classic games like the egg-and-spoon race, parachute challenge, foam javelin throws, space hopper races, and blindfold games. Who in your family will take home the bragging rights?

The basics

Meeting point

Make your way to Green Close Field (next to Gibside Hall) to find the Play Paradise and meet Gibside’s Active Outdoors Assistant Amy.

What to bring and wear

SPF or waterproofs - whatever the weather, there's always time for play.

Accessibility

There is a ramped incline from Visitor Reception to the start of the trail paths. There is a hard trail path to the Play Paradise. Activities will take place on the grass.

Other

Stay all day: with temporary toilet facilities, picnic spots and even a tuck shop serving cold drinks, snacks and ice creams, there’s no need to leave the Play Paradise.
