Meet a bat at Gibside with Ranger Tim
Come along for a bat encounter this October Half Term
- Booking essential
- Admission applies
Join this rare opportunity to see a real bat up-close whilst Ranger Tim tells you all about these special creatures and how you can help protect them.
Meet Mabel, a common pipistrelle who was rescued by the local bat team and is now unfortunately unable to live in the wild. She loves helping people learn all about bats and debunking some of the myths about them.
Please be aware that for the safety of the bats, participants will be asked to remain quiet and calm and wear a face mask (provided). Bats are sensitive to noise and our first priority must be the welfare of the animal. If participants are unable to stay calm and quiet during the experience, they may be asked to leave. Children must be supervised at all times.
All bats and their roosts are protected by UK law. This activity will take place under the supervision of Ranger Tim, who has a special licence to handle bats.
