Festive magic with Father Christmas
We’ve heard the twinkle of sleigh bells in the distance… spotted sparkles of fairy dust on the woodland path… and caught the faint sound of tinkering from the reindeer stables. It can only mean one thing, Christmas has returned to Gibside. Larger-than-life willow animals are bringing a touch of magic to the Avenue, and keep your eyes peeled because the woodland fairies are preparing for something truly enchanting. There's Christmas crafts and fastive snacks, and the Chapel will be decked in boughs of holly while live music wakes the spirit of the season.

Where have the low ropes gone?
After many years of fun and play, the course is unfortunately no longer fit for purpose. We understand that the Low Ropes were a beloved play area at Gibside, so we don't take the decision to remove the course lightly. Following a health and safety evaluation, we permanently closed the Low Ropes course to ensure the safety of our visitors.
Moving forward, we are committed to creating even more amazing experiences for families with children of all ages. We're always striving to improve and expand the visitor experience at Gibside, so we have a fantastic programme of events and activities planned throughout the year.
