Northumbrian Pipers at Wallington
The Northumbrian Pipers are joining us here at Wallington for their annual tribute to Patricia Jennings (daughter of Sir Charles Trevelyan) , who played the pipes and hosted piping evenings in the House for several decades.
- Booking not needed
- Free event (admission applies)
Patricia always held an open day on the first Sunday in August at which any piper was welcome to come along and join in. You will hear the region’s unique and iconic musical instrument that has been entwined with the history of Wallington for centuries. If you would like to know more about the pipes, the music the pipers are playing, or how you could learn to play yourself, please do ask. The pipers would be delighted to talk to you.
Listen out for the traditional sound of the Northumbrian pipes on Sunday 3 August. The soothing tones are well known around Wallington. Patricia, the last surviving child of Sir Charles Philips Trevelyan, was a proficient player herself and would often serenade visitors from the gallery.
