Bird ringing demonstration
A rare chance to see birds close up and help the ranger team with some real conservation work.
- Booking not needed
- Free event
Watch our rangers ring birds found in Washington Old Hall’s gardens, learn some fascinating facts and hear how bird ringing helps us understand more about our feathered friends.
Bird ringing involves putting a lightweight metal ring around a wild bird's leg, each one marked with a unique number. Information about the age, weight, size, health and location of each bird is recorded and submitted to the British Trust for Ornithology. This helps them understand bird population changes and species decline. This information is essential for bird conservation.
This event is free for everyone, including non-NT members. Normal site admission does not apply.
