We’re excited to invite you to the official launch of 'Hill Pictures'—a new exhibition at Divis & the Black Mountain, opening Thursday, 29 May until 26 August!
Led by Belfast-based photojournalist and conservation educator Polly Garnett, ‘Hill Pictures’ documents the long-term conservation of the hills and our interaction with them. Collaborating with ourselves, our Ranger team, and our friends at Belfast Hills Partnership, Polly Garnett led five photographic workshops on Divis, Black Mountain and Cave Hill.
These works offer two perspectives—Polly’s photographs and the young participants' Polaroids—each highlighting moments of connection, emotion, and hope for the future of this vital landscape.
The project will also contribute over 500 images to a free, open-access digital archive, providing a lasting resource for educators, environmental advocates, and the wider community.
The whole project launch will be on Saturday the 7 June at the Ulster Museum from 2pm to 5pm.
This is part of the Visualising Natural Heritage project by Belfast Photo Festival, supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
