A circular morning walk taking in some fantastic vistas across Belton and Grantham. Taking the bridal path adjacent to Syston Hall, which was the home of Sir John Thorold and the home of Britain’s first road race circuit. The route takes us up Whipperstall Hill via Green Lane, through Gashouse Plantation and past South Lodge. We then turn left, along the road (grass verge) heading towards Barkston Airfield, a former WWII bomber airfield, before heading down Minnets Hill to Barkston Village. Heading across the road junction to pick-up the public footpath on the left, walking along the River Witham and then heading up to Peascliffe Tunnel before returning to Belton Estate via Belton Hotel. Distance 15km.
