Bishopsland Educational Trust Summer School: Press Forming
18-20 August: a 3-day, intermediate-to-advanced course to design and make a small press-formed object using the method of creating an open die tool.
- Booking essential
You will gain knowledge of the technique of press forming and hands-on experience of the Hydraulic and Fly press.
Through a combination of demonstrations and one-to-one guidance, participants will experiment with the process and undertake a project of their own design. You'll gain an understanding of non-conforming and conforming die pressing techniques, learn how Hydraulic and Fly presses produce different results, acquire skills in making your own tools and the materials required for creating press-formed objects. You'll also cover additional techniques such as soldering and hand construction.
Our 3-day intermediate-to-advanced courses are primarily for the Bishopsland Fellows community and other more advanced makers.
Your tutor for this course is Angela Cork, Principal of Bishopsland Educational Trust and an established silversmith and industry leader with both a strong technical, design and academic background. She is also a Fellow of Bishopsland. Her work is represented in many prestigious galleries and exhibitions and many private and public collections including The P&O Makower Trust for the National Museum of Wales, Birmingham Museum & City Art Gallery and the Goldsmiths’ Company.
The course takes place over three days, from 18-20 August. The course fee includes accommodation.
