Create your own diorama display, guided by Sarah from Birdhouse Taxidermy.
Spend time in the Saloon exploring the historic taxidermy cases and discovering specimens and dioramas. Find out more about them and get inspiration for creating your own.
Head to the Study to make your own diorama - complete with small (fake) animal - using shoeboxes, toilet rolls, pipe cleaners and glue. You'll be able to take your completed diorama home with you as a memento of your visit to Calke.

The basics

- Suitability
Most suitable for children aged 5-12. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Meeting point
Meet at the front door of the house.
- What to bring and wear
All materials will be provided.
- Accessibility
The Saloon is on the first floor up two flights of stairs, however the main session will take place on the ground floor. Assistance animals welcome, seating available. Toilets available in the house office. Fidget toys and ear defenders call be borrowed from the Entrance Hall.

The 10am session begins before the house opens meaning the Saloon part will take place with no other visitors around, offering a quieter option (although there may be noise from vacuums) Each ticket includes one child + one adult.
