Attingham Unearthed | Archaeologist for a Day | SOLD OUT
Book your place to be part of the first significant archaeological dig on the wider Attingham Estate. A day's excavation experience for those looking for an introduction to archaeology. Tickets for this experience has sold out.
- Booking essential
Over the day, you will take part in excavating a 1 x 1 m test pit, supported by a National Trust archaeologist and experienced archaeology volunteers, that will explore further areas of the site to understand the area around this prominant Roman city. Throught out this introductory session you will learn real digging techniques, how to record your finds, and what they can tell us about the people who lived here long ago.
Book your chance to dig your very own archaeological test pit in a landscape packed with stories, on the Attingham Estate, just a short distance from Wroxeter Roman City (once known as Viroconium Cornoviorum). You will be part of a bigger excavation that is happening on the site where other visitors and community groups will be exploring an area just outside the walls of one of the largest Roman cities in Britain, and there may be even older layers of history to discover, stretching back to the Iron Age and beyond!
