Chinese Calligraphy & Cultural Workshop - ESEA Heritage Month

Discover the fascinating world of Chinese characters and traditional brush calligraphy with CultureKind Chinese Community as part of East and South East Asian Heritage Month

  • Booking essential
  • Admission applies

As part of East and South East Asian Heritage Month discover calligraphy.

Each session will begin with a short and engaging introduction to the origins and evolution of Chinese characters exploring how some of the earliest characters developed from pictures and symbols representing people, nature and everyday objects, and how these gradually evolved into the Chinese characters we use today.

Participants will discover how Chinese characters are formed and written, before having the opportunity to use a traditional Chinese brushand try writing some simple characters themselves.

Visitors can also have their English name translated into Chinese, which our team will beautifully write on a bookmark for them to take home as a special souvenir.

There will also be an opportunity to try a simple Chinese lantern-painting activity.

No previous experience is required. The workshop is interactive and suitable for both adults and children.
