Historical Reenactment - Civil War: The Surrender of Dunster Castle

Join us as Taunton Garrison bring the story of the Siege of Dunster to life, re‑creating key moments from the conflict, including the surrender of the castle

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Members of the Taunton Garrison will be returning to Dunster Castle on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March, bringing the drama and atmosphere of the English Civil War back to the castle grounds.

Across the weekend, costumed interpreters will be roaming the upper castle grounds in authentic 17th‑century dress, offering an immersive glimpse into life at Dunster during the Siege. Visitors can expect to encounter soldiers, camp followers and characters from the period who lived and served here when the castle was under threat.

This is a wonderful opportunity for families, history enthusiasts, and curious visitors alike to step back in time and experience the castle as it might have been during one of its most defining eras.
