Ghost Tours 2026

Step into the shadows and discover the darker side of Dunster Castle. Venture through the castle's most haunted spaces, hearing tales of ghostly sightings and mysterious happenings. Expect chills, thrills and a few scares along the way.

  • Booking essential

Many of the historic houses cared for by the National Trust are steeped in ghost stories, but few can rival the dark and unsettling history of Dunster Castle.

For decades, visitors and staff have reported strange occurrences within its ancient walls-unexplained footsteps echoing through empty corridors, shadowy figures glimpsed in the corner of the eye, sudden drops in temperature and an uneasy feeling of being watched when no one is there (or are they?)...

Led by experienced guides, this after-dark tour will take you deep into some of the castle's most haunted spaces, where tales of tragedy, imprisonment and restless spirits still linger.

As darkness falls and the castle's rooms are left to the shadows, every creak of the floorboards and flicker of light takes on a more sinister meaning. But are the stories simply legends, or is something still lurking within these ancient walls?

Keep your wits about you. Not every presence at Dunster Castle can be seen.

Are you brave enough to find out what lurks in the dark?
