Find a range of refreshments in the tea-room, or pop into the second-hand bookshop at Dapdune to discover your next favourite author. With indoor and outdoor seating available, there are plenty of spaces to enjoy a cuppa with a good book at the River Wey.

The Lock keeper's cafe at Dapdune Wharf

We serve barista style coffees and, of course, it wouldn’t be a visit to the National Trust without sampling a slice of cake. Our tea-room is no exception, serving our traditional round cakes and tray bakes. Choose from delicious treats such as Victoria sponge, fruit scones and cheese scones along with brownies and flapjacks.

Don’t forget your cup

Every time you present a reusable cup when you order a hot drink, we’ll give you 25p off as a thank you for helping the environment by reducing the number of disposable cups used. This promotion replaces the hot drinks loyalty card scheme, which closed in February 2021.

Ice cream

Come and try a selection of flavours of our locally sourced Jude’s scoop and tub ice cream. Which will become your new favourite flavour?

Children

Choose from our kid’s boxes packed with snacks, fruit and a sandwich. High chairs are available.

Allergen information

Most of the food and drink served is prepared on site in our kitchen, using a wide range of ingredients. As a result, we can’t guarantee that any of our food and drink products are completely allergen free.

If you have an allergy or intolerance and would like ingredient information about the food and drink served, please ask the staff, who will be happy to help.

Always check when you visit

Visited before? We sometimes change our recipes to improve quality and flavour, including the ingredients. When you visit, please speak to one of our team to check the current allergen information for your favourite dish.

Thank you

Every cuppa or tasty treat you buy helps us to continue looking after places for everyone to enjoy.

The Dapdune book shed

A river-ting read

The book shed offers a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, plus a large children’s selection, DVDs and CDs. From art, biographies and history to food and drink, travel and crime fiction you’ll find all this and more in our unique bookshop by the water’s edge, with friendly and knowledgeable volunteers on hand to help.

Why not settle in the tea-room garden for lunch with your favourite bestseller, or grab a takeaway beverage and stroll down to the book shed? We’d love to see you.

Donating your second-hand books

We warmly welcome donations of your pre-loved books at the book shed, and all funds raised contribute to the important conservation work on the River Wey.

You can donate by bringing your books to the ticket hut in the main car park, tea-room or book shed during Dapdune Wharf opening hours.

Thank you

It is through your purchases and support that we are able to continue to care for nature, beauty and history for everyone, for ever.
