Christmas with the James's

Monday 24 November 2025 - Monday 22 December 2025, excl. Thursdays | 11am - 4pm, last entry 3:30pm

Immerse yourself in our New England traditions, inspired by the Christmas celebrations American author and former Lamb House resident Henry James and his family would have thrown.

Soak in the greenery, beautifully hand-crafted decorations, and an art installation by the Oaks Specialist College.

With plenty of special memories and photo opportunities to take away from your visit, Christmas at Lamb House is not something to miss this year.

Things to see and do

Peggy's Peppermint Pig Trail

Runs daily, free with standard admission, suitable for all ages.

You've just finished a filling Christmas meal and are in need of a sweet treat. Peggy, Henry James's niece, has been very naughty and has hidden all the after-dinner peppermint pigs around the house!

Search high and low for the little pigs, using the handout map for guidance. Can you find them all?

Please note the peppermint pigs on the trail are not edible.

Christmas in Rye

We will be hosting our annual activity for Christmas in Rye! Stay tuned for more information on this coming soon.

Planning your visit

Lamb House will be closed between and including Monday 3 and Sunday 23 November so that our team can get ready for the festive period.

Lamb House's Christmas opening will be from Monday 24 November to Monday 22 December. After this date, we will be closed for the rest of the winter season until February 2025.

There is no need to book your entry ahead of your visit.

When you arrive, please go to Visitor Reception (the annexe with the open door next to the main building) to scan your membership cards or pay for entry.

Please note that there is no car park at Lamb House. Visitors wishing to park will need to find standard spaces around Rye.
