- Booking essential
This exciting workshop in collaboration with West Dean College will draw its inspiration from the grounds at Petworth and the exhibition of Turner's work. You will learn about the experimental ways in which Turner made his landscape paintings and explore these ideas for yourself.
The workshop will focus on black and white media using charcoal, compressed charcoal, black ink and black acrylic paint to make experimental abstracted landscapes.
You will learn the basics of landscape drawing where your tutor will explain the use of perspective, scale, tone and composition. You will learn about pictorial recession and the use of line and contrast. You will experiment with touch and mark-marking to suggest and evoke qualities of the landscape.
By the end of the day you will have produced several drawings inspired by the environment at Petworth House and the Turner exhibition.
