Guided Waxcap Fungi Walk at Chirk Castle
Join fungi expert Debbie Evans to explore Chirk Castle's estate and discover fascinating species of grassland fungi.
- Booking essential
Debbie Evans, a fungi expert with over 20 years of experience, surveyed Chirk Castle in 2005 and 2011, leading to its designation as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in 2011. This recognition was granted due to the estate's unique combination of ancient trees, associated invertebrates, and diverse grassland fungi. As an SSSI, we take special care of the Chirk Castle estate to maintain a suitable environment for these species to thrive. Join this walk to learn more about the fascinating fungi and the conservation efforts that support them. The walk will last between 2-3 hours, and booking is essential as spaces, priced £5 per person, are limited.
