Open Doors Day at Dyffryn Gardens

On Sunday 13 September we will be joining Cadw's Open Doors day and welcoming visitors to Dyffryn Gardens, free of charge.

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event

On 13 September we will be opening our gates for Open Doors, giving us the opportunity to welcome everyone to Dyffryn Gardens free of charge.

Whether you've always wanted to see Dyffryn or you visit us a few times a year, here's your chance to enjoy the gardens for free.

We'll be open from 10am to 5pm and there's no pre-booking. Open Doors is a busy day so please plan accordingly - our busiest times are between 11am-3pm and parking is limited, so please be aware that there may be a short queue to get into the carpark (in exceptional circumstances we may have to turn people away if we're at capacity).

Tredegar House is also holding an Open Doors day on 13 September and is only a 25 minutes drive from Dyffryn Gardens - so if we are at capacity when you arrive, Tredegar House is another great option for a free day out.

The basics

Accessibility

We are a largely accessible site with blue badge parking, accessible toilets at regular intervals and step-free routes around the garden. We have a mobility scooter and wheelchairs available for hire (free of charge), we recommend pre-booking these to ensure availability. We'll also have a volunteer-run buggy to take visitors round the gardens.

Meeting point

You'll likely be met by a parking attendant when you arrive, they will help you find a parking space.

Suitability for children

Visitors of all ages are welcome.

What to bring and wear

There is very little indoor space at Dyffryn Gardens so dress for the weather and wear comfy shoes for walking.

Other

We welcome dogs at Dyffryn - we ask that they're kept on a short lead at all times. We also sell dog treats in our shop and café, including doggy ice cream.
