Keep everyone entertained with a fun family day out at Erddig. With acres of parkland, natural play area and seasonal activities, there's lots to keep your little explorers busy.

Planning your family visit

Here’s the information you need at a glance to help plan your next day out at Erddig:

  • Toilets and baby-changing facilities are located in the Midden Yard. Additional composting toilets are located in Wolf’s Den, our natural play area.
  • Pushchairs are only permitted throughout the house's lower ground floor, which is fully accessible with level stone floors. Pushchairs can also be left at the house's entrance.
  • Please note that dogs are not permitted inside the house, garden, shop, hayloft restaurant, or the Wolf’s Den natural play area. The only exception to this policy is registered assistance dogs.

Spring at Erddig

Spring at Erddig Hall and Garden is the perfect time for a family day out, with blooming daffodils and vibrant blossoms filling the gardens.

Walking around the 1,200-acre estate is an excellent way to engage in several of the '50 Things to Do Before You’re 11¾' activities’. Kids can get to know a tree, skim stones at the riverbanks and play Pooh sticks from the bridges.

Families can step back in time inside the 17th-century stately home. Discover the relationship between the Yorke family and their servants as you explore the servants quarters and estate workshops.

May half term

Head to Erddig this May half-term, from 26 May to 1 June and celebrate Children's Gardening Week with a series of exciting events.

On 26 and 27 May, get hands-on with nature by joining border sowing sessions with our garden team. Little gardeners can grab a mini watering can or spade and help sow part of the garden borders. Be sure to return later this summer to see the blooms you helped bring to life.

On 28 and 29 May, get creative at our upcycle and sow sessions. Design your own upcycled plant pot and plant basil to take home and grow.

As you explore the formal gardens, keep an eye out for our fork stations dotted throughout the grounds, each sharing gardening insights - from historical fun facts and spring highlights to top tips from our expert gardeners.

Visit our events page to find full details on times, meeting points and how to join in on all the fun.
