Join us on the fourth Sunday of every month in 2026 (except May, July and August) for a 10k trail run from Aberdaron to Porth Meudwy. Briefing starts at 9am. No pre-booking required.
Trust10 at Aberdaron is two loops of our multi use trail along coastal path and public road – complete them both and you’ve done a 10k! Or complete the first 5k loop and call it a day and build up to more distance as you feel confident. There is no pressure to complete the full 10km, just breathe in the surroundings and nature and enjoy the views as you go!
Frequently asked questions
Where does the route start?
The trail at Aberdaron starts and ends at Porth y Swnt car park, just in front of Porth y Swnt visitor centre entrance.
What is the route like?
From the National Trust car park in Aberdaron the route follows the Wales Coastal Path along the headland to Porth Meudwy. There are steep steps here so be mindful to watch your step! Enjoy the breathtaking view across the bay to the Gwylanod islands as you run along part of the Cadfan pilgrim route that runs from Tywyn to the tip of the peninsula.
The run continues along the path until reaching Porth Meudwy - this small cove at the tip of the Llŷn Peninsula was once the embarkation point for pilgrims making the journey to Ynys Enlli. Today it still serves as the departure point for Ynys Enlli and as a small port for the handful of fishermen who make their living catching crab and lobster in the waters around Aberdaron. Take care here and keep an eye out here for boats on trailers and people making their way to the boat for trips to Ynys Enlli (Bardsey)
Turn right out of Porth Meudwy and follow the track until you reach the road. Turn right past Cwrt, the National Trust rangers’ base. Follow the road for half a mile until you reach a junction, turn right and carry on until you reach another junction. Turn left here and follow the road for 600 metres to the crossroads – turn right to take the road towards Aberdaron, when you reach the next junction turn left down the hill back to the visitor centre where you can finish or if you’re feeling brave conquer the steps a second time completing the second loop and the full 10km.
Do you have a map of the route?

Who is this route suited for?
The 10k run is a multi-mixture terrain, including multi-use trail, uneven ground, loose gravel, steps and road. We have graded the route blue on the trail running guide due to its uneven terrain and distance from the event hub. Some basic fitness levels are required and you may need to pace yourself according to your ability to complete the route. The trail ventures along coastal paths where there is often poor mobile coverage and far from the event hub.
We welcome everyone to give the Trust10 at Aberdaron a go, but please be aware that it's not a parkrun-style event. The route includes running along narrow coastal footpaths which can be steep and have steep steps in places. Please be prepared for a lot of ups and downs along the route, which passes by some unfenced cliff edges.
Will there be waymarkers?
The entire route is waymarked with pink Trust10 arrow discs. These waymarkers will stay up so you can come and run or walk the Aberdaron Trust10 route any day of the year.
Is there parking?
The route starts from National Trust car park, Porth y Swnt, in Aberdaron SH172264 – What3words; ///town.carpets.niece
Parking is free for National Trust members, £5 for non-members payable by card, cash or on the JustPark app. Our carpark isn’t the largest and we encourage green travel, so we ask you to lift share whenever possible or why not challenge yourself even more and make it a duathlon? Cycling to the car park where we also have cycle racks.
Will there be marshalls and backmarkers?
There will always be a backmarker tailing the runners with a mobile phone and emergency lanyard in order to contact the event hub. There may also be marshalls to cheer you on and help direct you at various points depending on volunteer availability.
Marshalls and backmarkers will be wearing high-vis and Trust10 lanyards.
Where and what are the facilities like?
There is a Spar convenience store near where the run starts and finishes, there are also two cafes, a bakery and pubs in the village. There are 4 toilets available, 2 next to and 2 inside of the visitor centre. There is a water refill point at the visitor centre. There are no more refill points on the route, so we recommend runners carry enough water with them to sustain themselves for the entirety of their run.
What to bring and wear
We recommend trail shoes as well as bright/reflective running clothing appropriate for the weather. If timing is important to you bring your own timing device and a phone to take a photo of the route map as well as a bottle of water.
What do I have to do when I arrive?
Runners should report to the registration table (near the start of the route) to sign in.
There will also be a run information table with a route map for runners to take a photo of and labelled pictures of important points on the trail for runners to familiarise themselves with. The Trust10 team will be here wearing high-vis and lanyards ready to answer any other questions.
Runners must then congregate near the start of the run for the pre-event briefing 15 minutes before start-time.
Please remember to sign back in once you have completed the run.
What time can I arrive?
Registration starts from 9am, please try to arrive no earlier than 8.30am to allow us time to set up for you.
Is the run timed?
The trail run will not be timed by the Trust10 team so please bring your own timing equipment if you want to record your run time.
It is not a race so there is no pressure to finish under a certain time, you can take it at your own pace.
How many people can attend?
There is a maximum limit of 50 Trust10 runners. Please be aware that if this limit is reached then you may be turned away on the day. We would love for everyone to be able to run but have settled on this number due to our current carpark size, conservation of the trail and Trust10 staff capacity.
Bear in mind the way markers will stay in place so you can come and run the trail yourself any other time.
What happens if there’s bad weather?
In the event of bad weather such as high-winds, excessive ice/snow/rain the Trust10 may be cancelled to the discretion of the Trust10 duty manager. We will try to give as much advance notice as possible. If cancellation seems likely we will post a notice asking runners to check the Porth y Swnt home page the morning of the Trust10.
There will be a yellow banner notice at the top of the Porth y Swnt home page in the event of cancellation.
What is the minimum age?
We love to see children and families together, enjoying running non-competitively. We recommend that anyone running our Trust10 event is 14 years old and over. As the parent or guardian you can use your discretion as to your child being suitable and able to take part in our Trust10 recreational run.
There are road-crossings on the Aberdaron Trust10 and a small part of the route does share a track used by the Porth Meudwy fishing community. The trail ventures along steep coastal paths where there is often poor mobile coverage and far from the event hub. We have graded it blue on the running trail guide.
Please use this to inform your decision about running with your child.
Please keep an eye on them, accompanying and remaining responsible for them at all times throughout the event. We will remind you about the importance of this on property webpages and during the pre-run briefing.
Can I bring my dog?
Dogs are welcome on short, handheld leads. Please make sure that the lead and harness you choose ensures the safety of both your dog, other runners and other users. Runners with dogs must position themselves at the back of the crowd for the start.
Can I run with a buggy?
We do not recommend Aberdaron Trust10 for off-road buggies due to its steepness and terrain that, at times, is narrow and includes steep steps.
Can I volunteer?
You can join our volunteer team by helping us deliver this monthly Sunday morning run. Roles include everything from marshalling the course, completing monthly route inspections, to registering runners on arrival. Please speak to us on arrival if you wish to volunteer for future events, or get in touch with the details below.
