Guided history walk at Stackpole
Join us on 1 & 22 July for a two-hour, guided and easy walk, introducing the history of the Stackpole Estate and associated families, concentrating on the period from 1777 when parkland was most altered by John Campbell II.

On the walk, key historical features of the landscape remaining today will be highlighted as you go via the site of the old mansion (now demolished) and end up in the Walled Garden (the Walled Garden is managed by Mencap).
The walk starts with an introduction at the Stackpole Centre before heading towards the Eight Arch Bridge, along the side of the Eastern Arm of the lakes to the Hidden Bridge, then One Arch Bridge, and into Lodge Park Woods to see the summer house. Then to the site of the old mansion, with views down the eastern arm, before returning through Lodge Park woods to the Walled Garden where the walk concludes. Wildlife will be seen throughout the walk and your guide will point out any interesting bits of wildlife, especially if there are otters to be seen!
This is a ticketed event, tickets costs £7 per adult and £4 per child. Family group tickets get a 20% discount off total cost. Booking is essential

- What to bring and wear
Please wear clothing and footwear appropriate to the weather. Walking shoes/ boots and warm, waterproof clothing are recommended.
- Accessibility
This walk will include uneven ground and muddy footpaths. The walking distance will be approximately three miles. This route is not wheelchair friendly. One tramper is available to hire (free of charge) at Stackpole Centre that would need to be booked in advance. Please call us on 01646 623110 for more information. Accessible toilets are available at the Stackpole Centre.

Dogs on leads are welcome. There will be no breaks on route. There are toilets at Stackpole Centre (the starting point), and at Stackpole Court (about 30 minutes into the walk) and at the Walled Gardens (at the end). There's also a café at the Walled Gardens (Mencap).

Join us on 29 July and 26 August for guided bat walks at dusk. This is a gentle walk that visits the site of two bat roosts, including the greater horseshoe nursery roost. Bat detectors are provided to share and are used to hear the bats.
