Diving into the details of these captivating paintings, this talk will compare and contrast the artistic output of Pieter Bruegel the Elder (c.1525-1569) and Rembrandt van Rijn (1606-1669) and consider what made these two artists so distinctive, and so different.
Dr Amy Orrock is a National Curator for the National Trust and the curator of Meet Rembrandt: A Slow Looking Experience. She has published and lectured widely on Northern European art and has curated the exhibitions Rubens & Women (Dulwich Picture Gallery, 2023), Tudor Mystery: A Master Painter Revealed (Compton Verney, 2023) and Bruegel: Defining a Dynasty (The Holburne Museum, 2017).
