Launching this summer are a series of digital games that have been curated and developed by the Universities of Southampton and Bournemouth, in Collaboration with the National Trust at Avebury.
Download and play one of these games on your next visit to Avebury and explore this special place in a new and fascinating way.
Locative games offer a chance to reimagine Avebury’s rich and mysterious history in a new way, being physically surrounded by the ancient landscape while taking part in collaborative, fun, and thought-provoking digital games.
Taking part in the games is free and open to everyone; all you need is a smartphone with location enabled. Simply come to the barn visitor reception to find our more and see what new stories you can uncover about Avebury as you walk through the landscape, look at the stones, and step into the past!
If you’re interested in exploring the world of locative gaming more, visit Avebury on Friday 25th or Saturday 26th July. On these days, professors and designers involved in the project will be in the barn, chatting to visitors and sharing more about their games.
The LoGaCulture Project is a research project funded by Horizon Europe and brings together experts, cultural sites, and academic institutions across the continent. To find out more about the project visit www.logaculture.eu.
