Learn more about our artist in residence

  • Booking not needed
  • Free event (admission applies)

Over the course of five months, artist Gemma Bailey will be creating works inspired by the landscape and collection of East Riddlesden Hall. She will spend residency days on site creating preliminary sketches for her works and will be happy to engage with visitors about her practice.

Her residency will culminate in an exhibition in the hall; Creating Connections: Exploring Creative Engagement, Gemma says “I am a Yorkshire-based visual artist who takes inspiration from the world around me, collating ideas through sketches that develop into mixed media paintings. I hope to inspire others to explore, celebrate and protect our amazing landscapes and heritage sites. I specialise in engaging communities and I have developed and delivered many creative workshops and activities for young people and families. I will be spending six months as an artist-in-residence at East Riddlesden Hall creating artwork inspired by the hall, the building and beautiful gardens”.
