Summer fun at Wicken Fen

Children can get closer to nature at Wicken Fen

There is plenty to see and do at Wicken Fen over the summer. Our walking and cycling routes, and boat trips, take you into the heart of the fenland landscape, and you are never far from a chance to encounter wildlife.

Giant Butterfly Trail

From 19 July, our Woodland Walk is the place to go, to follow our Giant Butterfly Trail, to find out about these lovely insects, take part in some ‘citizen science’ and pick up some tips on how you can help them back at home.

Get Set Go!

For a more active family summer, from 19 July we have Get Set, Go! activities lined up along the paths, including a sensory trail on the Boardwalk, hopscotch in the Fen Cottage garden, and willow ring hoopla.

We also have Minibeast Hunting (every Wednesday) and Pond Dipping (every Thursday) with help on hand for identifying your finds.  Call us on 01353 720274 to book a place on one of our timed sessions; we can sign you up on the day too, if we have room.

Cool off with an ice cream
