There's so much to see and do at Wicken Fen at half-term. Here's a few ideas to help you plan your day-out.

Events

We've got some great events planned for the kids during the school holidays -  from an Autumn Adventure, Nature Survival Skills to our scary Fenland Spooktacular.  Please book early as spaces are limited.

Wonderful wildlife

With over 9000 recorded species  you're bound to see some amazing wildlife. You can spy on wildlife from nine wildlife hides around the nature reserve.  

Our new Baker's Hide overlooking the wet grasslands of Baker's Fen is a great place to spy on migrant wildfowl who will be spending the winter at Wicken Fen.

Please ask in the Visitor Centre if you need help to identify a bird or animal that you've seen and share your sightings by recording them in the Sightings Book. 

Explore on two legs or two wheels

Enjoy a gentle family stroll around the all-weather boardwalk or grab the walking boots for a hike on the Adventurers' Trail,

Grab some wheels and explore the wider reserve, local villages, have an off-road blast, or cycle the Lodes Way down to Anglesey Abbey.

Cycle hire open daily, 10am -5pm (last hire 3pm).  Hire rates from £5 for two hours.

A series of walks and rides can be downloaded from our walking and cycling pages, or collect a trail guide from the Visitor Centre.

All aboard

Sit back and relax and watch the world float by as you explore our beautiful fenland waterways on our electric boat the 'Mayfly'.

Trips depart up to 4 times a day during school holidays.Tickets £6 adults, £3.50 children or £17.50 for a family ticket (2 adults & 2 children).

Search for hidden treasure

Can you find the seven secret geocaches we've hidden around the reserve?

You can download the co-ordinates to your phone or GPS from www.geocaching.com or borrow a receiver from our Cycle Hire building. 

50 Things to do before your 113/4s

Collect your 50 Things scrapbook from the Visitor Centre, it's packed with 50 fun adventures to complete before your 113/4s - Don't worry you can be older & even adults like taking part.

We've got a special 50 Things Trail to help get you started on your quest.

A night under the stars

Enjoy an overnight adventure with your family or friends with a stay at our secret wild campsite.

The nights might be getting longer but the four open fronted shelters (each sleeping up to six adults or eight children) will keep you warm and dry. There's a fire pit and eco-loo too. Hire the whole site for just £45 per night. Click the link for more information & bookings.
