The activities are best delivered as group activities of between 10 and 15 children. Each activity is designed to last about 45 minutes (although this can be altered to suit the age and requirements of the children)
School visits are tailored to meet the needs of the children after consultation with the class teacher. We will be pleased to welcome you on a free preview visit to the Clergy House.
We recommend two activities for a half day visit and three activities for a whole day visit. This gives the children time to enjoy lunch on the famous Tye in front of the Clergy House and St Andrew’s Church.
Special educational needs are catered for where possible, after consultation with the class teacher.
Groups visits by schools to the Clergy House take place on Thursdays and Fridays when the property it closed to the general public.
School visits are charged at a cost of £2.10 per child but no admission fee is payable where Education Group Membership applies (please enquire at time of booking). There is a charge of £2 per child for the day’s activities. Accompanying adults are admitted free.
We have a shop selling souvenirs and gifts which can be opened on request for school visits. Please indicate whether you require this on the booking form.
The Willows car park in the village has parking spaces for up to nine coaches at any time. The charges are as follows: up to 2 hours - £4, 2-3 hours - £5, and 3-4 hours - £6. These prices are advisory, please check displays in the car park.

Alfriston Clergy House can be accessed directly from the coach park by way of the river bank (400 metres away). Please note that there are 2 stiles to negotiate along this route. The alternative route from the coach park is via the village High Street. Please see the map included with the booking information.
The Old Chapel Centre, now a community facility, can be hired, at a cost of £11 per hour, by visiting groups that require private lunchtime, kitchen and lavatory facilities. We can make that booking on your behalf but cannot guarantee that the Centre will be available on the day that you require. Groups are asked to ensure that the Centre is clean and tidy when they leave.
All members of the group should be dressed for the outdoors and should have appropriate footwear, waterproof clothing and sun hats/ sunscreen for hot weather.
Schools are responsible for providing and administering their own first aid.
National Trust risk assessments are available on request but staffs in charge of school parties are responsible for the safety and conduct of members of their party during the visit. At least one accompanying adult for every ten children is required as a minimum.
