Open days at Town Walls Tower

A side on view of the top of the Town Walls Tower in Shrewsbury town

Take a rare opportunity to step behind the door that hundreds of local people walk past every day. Built in the fourteenth century to provide protection against Wales, delve into the history of the tower on one of our open days.

Town Walls Tower is a small property, with narrow rooms and staircases. As such this year entry will be by pre-booked timed ticket at intervals throughout each open day. Tickets will be available to book on the What's on page of this website from mid-February.

Next open days

Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 April, 10:30am to 3.30pm

Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 June, 10.30am to 3.30pm

Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 August, 10.30am to 3.30pm

Saturday 6 and Sunday 7 October, 10.30am to 3.30pm

Due to its small size, entry is by tour only, limited to ten places on each one. There is a steep staircase to the top floor of the tower and no dedicated parking or toilet facilities at the Tower.

Entry is free for National Trust members and under 5s. For non-members admission charges apply, adults £2 and children £1, payment taken when you pre-book your tickets.

Town Walls Tower is located in Shrewsbury town centre. It is near the Welsh Bridge, on the south of town wall. Find it with SY1 1TN.
