Baggy Point to Woolacombe cycle trail

Cycling trail

This 8 mile (4 miles each way), gentle cycle will take you past Putsborough and along the back of Woolacombe beach (voted TripAdvisor's 'Best beach in Britain' 2016) to the village of Woolacombe, where you can find shops, pubs and cafes before cycling back to Baggy Point. Keep an eye out for the North Devon Red Cattle on the Woolacombe dunes, who are there to help us improve biodiversity on the dunes.

Baggy Point to Woolacombe Cycle Trail OS Map


Baggy Point Car Park, grid reference SS 433,397


Turn left out of the National Trust Baggy Point car park along Moor Lane for approximately 0.8 of a mile


At the end of Moor lane turn left, heading up the hill on Stentaway Lane (0.2m)


Turn right to stay on Stentaway Lane for a further 0.4 miles


At the next junction turn left towards Putsborough Beach


When the road turns left and heads down towards Putsborough Beach, carry on straight on National Cycle Route 278. If you want a shorter route or a quick stop, follow the road down to Putsborough Beach.


When the path joins up with Marine drive stay on Marine Drive (don’t turn off onto the Coast Path) and follow it along to the end


At the end of Marine Drive turn Left onto Challacombe Hill Rd, which will take you down to the centre of Woolacombe


Finish, you’ve reached Woolacombe, for more information on what to do whilst here, head into the Tourist Information Centre. Finally follow the same route back to Baggy Point.
