Join the midwinter merriment

Faithful friends have their own decorations

Gather friends and family together to enjoy traditional games, music and dancing at Barrington Court. Rooms are brimming with festive atmosphere, adorned with natural garlands, Christmas trees and sparking lights.

A 1920s Christmas

Colonel Lyle restored the house and garden in the 1920s and three generations of his family lived here, entertaining and celebrating Christmas with friends and relations. The tradition of jolly midwinter merriment is continued this season, with Court House transformed by rustic decorations, handmade by a team of staff and volunteers to bring the outside in.

There is the opportunity to play evocative gramophone records in the Great Hall and have a go at some old-fashioned games and jigsaws. As well as beautiful decorations, there is music and dancing. You can sing along while dressed in 1920s-style accessories, or take a quiet moment and reflect on your own Christmases past in the memory room, where you can share your recollections with others.

Father Christmas will be in residence (weekends only plus Monday 23 Dec), and there's special festive fare in the restaurant as well.
