Join the Beningbrough Hall team
Get more involved with the work at Beningbrough. There are a wide range of opportunities to suit all skill sets and time commitments.
Volunteer recruitment open days
Tuesday 13 and Saturday 17 November, 10.30am - 12.30pm
Drop in to speak to a member of the team and find out about the different opportunities currently available. If you're not sure where your place might be, don't worry, we can guide you depending on your interests and preferences.
We are currently looking to build the team in the hall and gallery. Knowledge of art isn't necessary as training and support is provided. We are looking for people who appreciate art and history, who have great communication skills and would feel comfortable engaging with a wide variety of visitors throughout the day.
Other roles being actively recruited for are volunteers to support the work of the admissions teams and help with welcoming visitors to Beningbrough, getting involved with all things retail and if begin hands-on outdoors is more your thing, we're looking to develop the parkland team.
" The best bit is that at the end of the day, you know you made someone smile by telling them something new that they didn’t expect. It is so fulfilling to know you helped make their experience that little bit better."
Where could I volunteer at Beningbrough?
Hall and Gallery
If you're interested in history, art and communicating with visitors, the hall could be perfect for you, we have a large team of friendly room guides and visitor engagement volunteers.
If behind the scenes is more your thing join the conservation volunteers who help with the care of the collection from cataloguing to conservation.
Learning and Education
Help the delivery or organisation of one of the formal school programmes or work with the Learning Officer to develop new self-led experiences.
There are regular Artrageous! workshops where families get hands-on and creative, volunteers help with leading the workshops and planning the activities.
Garden and Parkland
How does the garden grow? Get hands-on helping the team with everything from weeding and pruning to edging and planting. For larger projects join the parkland team or tackle some maintenance if you're 'handy' at DIY.
Alternatively, reveal the stories of the gardens and interact with visitors as a garden engagement volunteer.
Front of house
Join the warm and welcoming admissions team to help visitors plan their day, learn more about membership or discover special events on that day.
Join the shop team and help with stock merchandising, sales, raffle ticket promotion, caring for the plants or join the second hand book team to sort, price and re-stock.
Behind the scenes
Help keep the wheels turning with administrative support, project work or as part of the volunteer recruitment and training team.
If you're interested in all things marketing there are opportunities to write press releases and articles, develop the website & social media, help with promotion and create posters
If food and service is your passion, and you enjoy being in a busy environment, the food and beverage team have opportunities front of house - serving, clearing and assisting with any queues.
If you're inspired by the Great British Bake off and have the skills to match, there could be a place for you in the kitchen.
