Step into a festive Christmas at Blickling Estate. See inside the decorated House and visit in the evening to see the magical Garden of Lights at one of Norfolk's most special places.

Christmas in the House

Saturday 29 November until Sunday 4 January.

House open 11am – 3pm, last entry is at 2.30pm. Closed on 24 and 25 December.

Step into the House this festive season and enjoy charming decorations to delight all ages.

Enjoy a spot of Christmas shopping in the shop or pop into the second-hand bookshop in the Farmyard to browse a selection of specialist books. Tuck into delicious seasonal food and warming drinks in the Stables and Muddy Boots cafés. Garden, shops and cafés open 10am – 4pm, last orders in the cafés at 3.30pm.

Daytime event information

There's no need to book tickets for your visit during these times. Entry is free to National Trust members, and standard admission applies to non-members, who can pay on arrival. Children under five go free. 

Good to know

  • The house is open 11am – 3pm. Last entry to the house is 2.30pm. The garden, shops and cafés open at 10am and close at 4pm. 
  • The second-hand bookshop is open and accepting donations between 11am – 3pm.
  • The RAF Oulton Museum will be open on some days.
  • Quite hours will take place every Tuesday and Saturday between 2pm – 3pm for those who would like a calmer atmosphere.

A Garden of Lights - Tickets Available Soon

Saturday 6 – Sunday 21 December | 5pm–8pm.

As darkness falls, the gardens of Blickling Estate come alive with light and wonder. See the landscape transformed with bold, playful displays of colour and sound. Explore creative illuminations and interactive moments set against the backdrop of the beautiful historic hall. Warm your hands with mulled drinks, savour seasonal bites, and indulge in sweet treats. Share the magic with family and friends and start your festive season with sparkle and joy at our biggest fundraising event of the year.

Ticket information

Everyone (including National Trust members) will need to book tickets in advance for our evening Christmas event as there won’t be any tickets available on the day. This year, we are introducing tiered ticket prices in three bands: Off-peak (Monday – Thursday), Peak (Fridays and Sundays) and Super-peak (Saturdays). Off-peak ticket prices are lower than ticket prices in 2024.

Free carer tickets are available on request.

*Children under five go free, but still require a ticket.

Please note that event tickets are non-refundable and non-transferrable.

Access information

The Garden of Lights has a fully accessible a step free route of just aound one mile on a range of surfaces including gravel of different thicknesses, accessible matting and a small area of grass. Electric scooter and wheelchair users are welcome to bring their access aids. We have a limited number of powered mobility vehicles (PMVs) available to hire each night, to find out more and book please call 01263 733956. 

If you require one or two carers to accompany you to the event, their entry is free. Please ensure you include a free ticket for each carer at the point of booking.

Disabled toilets are available in the main car park, the East Wing and the Farmyard. A changing places facility is available in the Farmyard.

Tuesday 9 December is a reduced capacity event for those who would like a quieter atmosphere. Tickets available for this evening will equate to just over 50% of the standard capacity, and arrivals will be spaced out throughout the evening to ensure a calmer visit.

 

Eating and drinking

Head to the festive Farmyard for pizzas, chips, toasties and drinks at the start or end of your visit. Along the route, discover warming mulled wine, spiced apple juice, mince pies and gingerbread on the parade. 


Christmas shopping

Whether you're searching for decorations, stocking fillers, garden gifts or foodie treats, wander through the Blickling shop to find that perfect present, or pop into the Second-hand bookshop in the Farmyard to browse a selection of specialist books.


Good to know

  • Your ticket includes parking in our main car park, with accessible bays and toilet facilities close by. Entry to our illuminated gardens is 224m from the car park. Please make a note of your time slot as this is your entry time into the car park, your visit is free flow from then. 
  • Please note that only assistance dogs are allowed at the event, apart from on Tuesday 9 December when will be hosting a PAWS evening for four-legged visitors to join.
  • If you would like to arrange a group visit to the Garden of Lights at Blickling event, please contact us on 01263738030 or blickling@nationaltrust.org.uk to discuss availability.
  • Unfortunately we are unable to accommodate motorhomes or larger vehicles during this event.
  • The Second-hand bookshop is open for shopping in the evening, but not accepting book donations during the event.
