May half term at Bodiam Castle
This May half term discover what life was like for some of our castle characters and enjoy getting out and about in the castle and grounds with our daily nature I-Spy trail and have-a-go archery. On 31 May and 1 June, create your own bird house and take home to encourage birds to your garden.
Life in the castle
This May half term discover what life was like for some of our castle characters. In three of the castle tours you will find 8 colourfully illustrated characters, such as a knight, servant or lady, who may have lived in the castle back in 1385. Open the boxes to find some props to become a castle character yourself.
These illustrated characters, drawn by artist and castle team member, Scarlett Woodman, are an great photo opportunity for that unusual family pic.
Look out for the Castle Steward who will be patrolling the castle courtyard during this holiday week looking for children who'd like to be set a mission to see if they would be up to getting a job in the castle.
Test your archery skills
Archery will be on offer each day throughout the half-term holidays in the grounds of the castle. Costumed instructors from The Hawking Centre will be on hand each day to give instructions for those who'd fancy themselves as a budding Robin Hood.

Download the Spring trail below and head off to the outer reaches of the castle grounds to see what you can find.

We want to tell you a story
If you and the family want to take a break from all the running about in the great outdoors, then our storytellers will be on hand in the castle and happy for you to sit and rest a while to listen to one of their many tales.
Our storytelling sessions will run throughout the day and are suitable for 5 - 99 year olds. Just settle down and be transported into the magical worlds of the stories.
