Family adventures galore this half-term on the Surrey Hills. Try your hand at the Natural Play Trail at Box Hill, borrow a tracker pack to explore Hindhead Commons and the Devil's Punch Bowl, watch the ducks at Bookham Commons or find the animal houses at Limpsfield Common.
Half-term is a great chance to head outdoors and complete our 50 awesome outdoor adventures. If your little ones like getting out and about, there are some fantastic family days to be had on the Surrey Hills. Here are our top recommendations for a great day out:
Box Hill, near Tadworth
Follow the Natural Play Trail through the woods at Box Hill - there are lots of play features to climb on, under and over. While away happy hours in our den building area and enjoy the view from the Salomons Memorial viewpoint. Pick up a free 50 things scrapbook from the shepherd's hut and explore the great wide world. Bring along a picnic to enjoy on the Donkey Green, or pick up a sandwich lunch and an ice cream from the Box Hill cafe. Hindhead Commons and the Devil's Punch Bowl, near Haslemere
Head to the shepherd's hut next to the cafe at Hindhead Commons to collect your free 50 things scrapbook and borrow a free children's tracker pack. Filled with binoculars, compass, paper, pencils and spotter sheets, they're a great way to explore. Walk the route of the old A3 road and marvel at how nature is reclaiming this land as hers. Find the Sailor's Stone and the Gibbet Cross along the way. Bring along a picnic to enjoy at the edge of the Punch Bowl, or head to our cafe for a hot lunch, sandwiches or an ice-cream treat. Bookham Commons, near Bookham
The bird hide at Bookham Commons is a great spot to sit and watch our birds as they feed and preen on our large pond. Follow our family trail, and stop off along the way to have some fun at our natural play area. Car parking is free to National Trust members, or £6 per day (payable by coins or ring-go). Limpsfield Common, near Oxted
Follow the paths around Ridland's Grove on Limpsfield Common and discover a secret world of magical animal houses. Follow our short walking trail to discover this beautiful woodland spot. Car parking is free to National Trust members, or £6 per day (payable by coins or ring-go). There are no toilets on Limpsfield Common. SAT NAV RH8 0SY.
