'50 things' adventures are waiting to happen!

Children holding daisy chains

There's lots of outdoor adventures to enjoy at Canons Ashby. Have a great family day out and see how many '50 things to do before you're 11¾' challenges your young explorers can complete.

Our paddock, gardens and parkland combine to make a great outdoor adventure space. Have a look at some ideas for making life-long nature memories for all the family below.

No. 1 Get to know a tree

There are lots of trees in our open spaces. Can you find one that stands out from the rest? In the parkland there are a few which you might be able to climb. In the garden try to find the BIGGEST tree, or your favourite, and see if your family can reach all the way around it.

No.31 Make friends with a bug

Take a walk in our spinney, pick up some leaves or look under fallen branches to see if you can find any creepy crawlies. Have a look at our insect hotels - do you think you can make one at home? Insects are absolutely essential to a happy world, because they help plants to grow (including the food we eat), and eat rubbish.

No.34 Discover wild animal clues

Look for the signs of wildlife ... feathers, fur, poo and footprints are all clues. What do you think lives here at Canons Ashby? Can you find any animal homes where creatures might live?

No. 44 Watch a bird

At Canons Ashby we have many different types of birds living here and visiting here regularly, so remember to look up when you're visiting. They're big, small, rare and common. How does it make you feel to see lots of happy birds, or to listen to the birdsong?
