Return to Winterfell
Castle Ward is delighted to host a Q&A with George R.R. Martin followed by a medieval feast in the old farmyard aka Winterfell in the acclaimed HBO series on Wednesday 21 August at 7.30pm.
Fans will get a chance to put their theories to George R.R. Martin, the famed writer of the A Series of Ice and Fire novels which Game of Thrones is based on. Join an intimate audience as George shares his experiences creating the world of Westeros and beyond with broadcaster and Thrones mega-fan Ed Finn in the surroundings of Castle Ward’s theatre.
Following the Q&A ticket holders will be able to immerse themselves in the world of George’s creation on an illuminated procession on the Kingsroad to Winterfell. Fully dressed for the occasion in the Stark cloaks provided, tuck into a medieval feast including hog roast in celebration of George’s arrival. Enjoy music from the Molly Maguire band and hear tales of the filming by the fire in the surrounds of the original home of the Stark family.
Visitor Experience Manager Clodagh Miskelly is excited to welcome George back to Winterfell, “When Castle Ward was host to the HBO filming, we could never have dreamed that it would become the phenomenon it is now. George was part of the team on site making sure his vision was created so we’re overjoyed to be bringing him back to the place where it all began.”
George recalls his time in the National Trust estate fondly, “I look forward to returning to visit beautiful Castle Ward and meeting old friends at Winterfell.”
Limited tickets are now on sale for this exclusive evening at the home of the Stark family costing £85 per person.
