Relaxed and elegant we can provide diverse backdrops for your perfect wedding setting. Why not combine a few special spots for a day with a difference?
Built in the 1760s, Castle Ward House and its estate combines history and unique architecture with breathtaking views of Strangford Lough.
We offer a selection of the finest wedding locations anywhere in Northern Ireland whether on the scenic shores of Strangford Lough, inside our 18th-century Mansion House, our rustic Theatre or within the multi-level Victorian Sunken Garden.
The Mansion House
Inside you can find our neo-classical 18th-century hall of assembly with richly decorated walls, a scaglioli colonnade and a Georgian ceiling which are all enhanced by a crystal chandelier. In here we can hold intimate ceremonies of up to 65 guests.
This is a charming white-walled, rustic barn style space in the Stableyard, convenient for both the Sunken Garden and Mansion and with its own private courtyard. We can accommodate up to 150 guests for a ceremony or 120 guests for your reception.
The Sunken Garden
The Victorian Sunken Garden, on three levels and featuring an abundance of exotic flowers and seasonal plants, provides a stunning and tranquil location for your wedding ceremony of up to 140 guests. It is also a perfect location to host your drinks reception.
The Loughshore: Coal Quay
Our 200-year-old Coal Quay on the shores of Strangford Lough is the perfect location for a unique maritime-themed ceremony for up to 80 guests. Combine it with either our loughshore marquee site or our rustic Theatre for your reception to give you the most memorable of wedding days.
Lime Tree Walk
For somewhere completely different you can celebrate your marriage, with up to 100 guests, under the 40-year-old lime trees that lead to the fabulous Temple Water and vista that frames Audley's Castle.
Two fabulous, romantic sites are available for your marquee- or tipi-based reception. Choose from the sun-drenched front lawn, with the classical side of the Mansion as your backdrop, or the wonderful setting beside Strangford Lough with views of old Castle Ward (or is it Game of Thrones’ WinterFell?)
Our charming Stableyard provides a quiet additional space for evening receptions from 6pm onwards.
Caterers and Rates
We currently have a number of approved external caterers for weddings at Castle Ward. To get further details on these and our current rates and packages please telephone our specialist team on 028 4488 1204 and ask for Sarah or Shirley, or email us at email@example.com
From getting married in a three tiered Victorian sunken garden to getting your photos taken down by the lough shore, then Castle Ward has plenty of versatility and unique opportunities for you on your special day. Our wedding brochure has all our information to tailor your wedding.
The mansion boasts two distinct architectural styles: classical and Gothic - one of the strangest architectural compromises created between two people. Explore the inside with a guided tour and then take in the history of the gardens.
Immerse yourself in the world of HBO's Game of Thrones as you explore the farmyard. Book in with Winterfell Tours and explore on-screen locations on a cycling tour or have a go at archery just like the Stark brothers.
