Hindhead Commons and the Devil's Punch Bowl
Spectacular views and walks in the Surrey Hills countryside
Walking & Cycling
This is a lovely walk, crossing the old A3 and taking in some spectacular views - you may see ponies or cattle grazing the scrub and on a clear day views of the distant London skyline.
A moderately demanding walk initially skirting the Devil's Punch Bowl before dropping down into the valley for the return journey with the last quarter of the walk involving quite a steep incline through ancient woodland. If wet, some muddy sections can be expected.
A great but demanding walk with varied terrain that takes in the base of the Devil's Punch Bowl, Gibbet Hill and The Temple of the Four Winds, the latter two features affording superb views. If wet some muddy sections to be expected.
This is a gentle walk to the summit of Gibbet Hill, the second highest point in Surrey.
Mountain bikes are only permitted on bridleways and byways at Hindhead Common. We know how important it is to find fresh air and relaxation but we ask people not to cycle on footpaths or create new trails. Any structures on a SSSI, such as jumps or ramps, need permission from Natural England, so we will have to remove them.
