Ritual object: a reflection on the Neolithic

Front of Dyffryn House

Sculptor: Kevin Blockley, MRBS

Made from Mandale fossil limestone from Derbyshire and sandstone from the Forest of Dean, Kevin Blockley's Ritual Object monolith sculpture is designed to echo the prehistoric archaeology surrounding Dyffryn Gardens.

" The influence for my design comes from the nationally important Neolithic Ritual complex close to Dyffryn Gardens. Two famous sites within this complex are the burial chambers at St Lythan’s and Tinkin’s Wood, both part of Chambered long barrows dating around 6,000 years ago."
