Saddlescombe Farm backpackers campsite FAQs
Here are some answers to the most frequently asked questions about the campsite that may be useful:
Can I park my car by my tent?
There is no vehicle access to Saddlescombe farm backpacker’s campsite. It is in a perfect setting just off of the South Downs Way and only accessible on foot or by bike. It is five miles from Brighton.
Where is the nearest town or village?
The campsite is situated in the small village of Saddlescombe. However Hurstpierpoint is four miles away and provides local amenities although this is not on the South Downs Way.
Where is the nearest food shop?
We recommend arriving with supplies, stopping along the way to stock up.
Where is the nearest pub/restaurant?
There is a café run by the tenants at Saddlescombe Farm – Wild Flour Café. It is open most days but recommend checking their website near the time of your visit for full details.
Do you take bookings?
We only accept pre-bookings from large organised group otherwise the campsite is run on a first come first served basis and pay on arrival. It is rare that we have to turn people away.
Do you have toilets and showers?
We have toilets but no showers.
Do you accept dogs?
Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Saddlescombe Farm site but must be kept on leads at all times. Dogs should be exercised away from other campers and any mess cleared up immediately.
Do you have laundry facilities?
This is a basic site so we do not offer laundry facilities.
Do you take credit card payments?
No, we only accept payment in cash or cheque for inidividuals.
Are you open all year round?
We open from early April until the end of September
Can I have a fire or barbecue?
We don't allow fires, but you are welcome to use a barbecue as long as it is above ground.
Can under 18s stay at the site?
Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.
