Meet a Volunteer
Paul is the Volunteer Programme Manager at Flatford
We thought we'd find out why he does it..
'I joined the team after retiring from the Metroplitan police as Director of Procurement. I love Flatford, it's a beautiful place, and I very much enjoy talking to staff, volunteers and visitors. They are all very friendly and we have a laugh and a joke together. I like to feel useful and contribute as much as I can to the smooth-running of Flatford.'
..and what his role involves
'I am responsible for the recruitment, selection and induction of all volunteers for Flatford and Bourne Mill. I am also on the regional committee for risk management.
We have about 90 volunteers all doing various roles from admin, guiding, helping in the shop or the tea room, you name it a volunteer is involved!'
Do you have any other roles?
'I'm a tour guide, a ramble leader and am also on the events committee.'
Goodness knows how Paul fits it all in but Flatford wouldn't be the same without him!
